Testimonial from a Staff Member

November 26, 2014

Usually our members give us testimonials regarding their banking experience.  Here, however, is a testimonial about one of our members.

MSRs visiting our off site banking sites give our members good banking service.  We appreciate providing this service; this appreciation is reciprocated by our members.  During one visit to Emmanuel Home, Mrs. ___ did her banking but also shared how upset she was about not understanding her statement.  As there were no other members to be served it allowed time to explain the statement.  Mrs.___ was frustrated about some aging issues; we had an opportunity to read a portion from Scripture – Isaiah 43: 1, 2 – one of my mother’s favourite verses.

"But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you."

Mrs. ___ mentioned that the chat we had was worth more than the $100 I gave her from her account withdrawal.  Months passed before any MSR saw Mrs___ do her banking at Emmanuel Home due to her falling down 13 steps resulting in injuries that required hospitalization and rehabilitation.  The first time I saw Mrs. ___ after her recovery, she needed to tell me that during her recovery she wondered why God had allowed this injury to occur but more importantly she thought many times about the Bible verses we had read together.  She paraphrased the verses by holding up her hand and stretching her fingers apart.  She mentioned five important points, starting with her pinky finger, she said:

“This is what God says:
1. I created you
2. I formed you
3. I have redeemed you
4. I have called you by your name
5. You are mine
Your middle finger is the biggest; that’s the more important thing – I have redeemed you!  That’s ALL that’s important.”

Mrs. ___ had shared a beautiful testimony which had great impact on me.
