Christian Credit Union Finances Campfire! Summer Bible Camp

September 01, 2005

Campfire! Summer Bible camp is a Christian, non-profit, overnight children’s camp organized by members of the Canadian Reformed Churches in Ontario. The have been operating for nine years, hosting 300 children in seven, week-long sessions of camp during the months of July and August. Of these 300 children, over a quarter of these campers came Summer Bible campfrom underprivileged families through Streetlight Ministries and the St. David’s Inner City Mission, both of which are Christian outreach ministries operating in Hamilton’s north end.

After operating out of a Boy Scouts camp for eight years, a large vacant parcel of land in Markdale, Ontario was donated to them for their use. Through members’ deposits, the Christian Credit Union was pleased to assist with a $700,000 mortgage used to build a main lodge, construct cabins and develop the camp. The commitment of the Board and supporters of Campfire! was exemplary in making this a reality. Congratulations!

Funds are made available to individuals and organizations outside of Alberta on a limited basis. Call John Veldkamp, Manager, Lending Services at the Edmonton branch for more details.
