Annual Meetings and Presentations by BFM

April 11, 2016

This year’s Annual Meetings took a slightly different format and featured presentations from Bibles for Missions Thrift Stores that were open to the public. In the past 27 years, BFM has built over 48 stores across Canada, and provided over $70,000,000 in donations to The Bible League. The funds have been used to place scriptures and training through Church Planter Training, Adult Bible-based Literacy, Children’s Ministry, and the Persecuted Church.

Casey Langbroek, Executive Director, explained how shopping or volunteering at a BFM Thrift Store leads to Bibles being distributed, leaders being trained, and new Christians baptized by the grace of God.

In 2015, there were over 181,372 Bible-based literacy learners, and 1,280,676 resources placed in persecuted areas. He also explained how working with organizations like Christian Credit Union makes financing possible for new Thrift Stores like the one being built in
Okotoks, AB.

The Annual Meetings also included great food, fellowship, and a presentation by John Veldkamp, CEO. The Lethbridge Annual Meeting featured a performance from the Immanuel Christian High School Black Light group. The Edmonton AGM provided appetizers, desserts, and a standing reception, which provided an opportunity to mingle with other guests. The proceeds of the tickets sales were donated to The Bible League of Canada.

Peter Van Bostelen, President of the Board was thanked for completing two consecutive terms on the Board (6 years). Peter has a long history with our Credit Union and we are thankful for his contribution. It was also announced that Henrietta Wildeman would serve another 1-year term and John Jagersma was welcomed as a new member of
the Board.
