INTERAC e-Transfer† Fraud

December 18, 2013

Please be advised that some Credit Union members have been receiving fraudulent emails or texts advising them they have received an INTERAC e-Transfer†.

To protect yourself from fraudulent e-Transfers, ensure that the email you received is from notify@payments.interac.ca. The “to deposit your money, click here:” link should also begin with https://etransfer.interac.ca/.  By placing your cursor over the link (URL) of the site to deposit the money you will be able to see if the INTERAC website address is legitimate or not. Fraudulent e-Transfer emails or texts usually don’t come from a specific person, or the e-Transfer is unexpected, and words are often misspelt in the subject line or body of the text or email.
