2027 Board Nominees
Reuel Thomas

I am interested in joining the Christian Credit Union Board because I believe strong financial stewardship, sound governance and Christian values can work together to strengthen individuals, families and communities. I would bring a practical strategic and collaborative perspective to the Board, along with a commitment to integrity, accountability and the long-term success of Christian Credit Union and its members."
"Good stewardship means making thoughtful, responsible and ethical decisions with the resources entrusted to us. It means balancing today’s needs with long-term sustainability, providing for our families, supporting our communities, investing wisely and using resources in ways that reflect our values.
For a financial institution, stewardship also means managing the resources entrusted to it by members with integrity and discipline. That requires strong governance, prudent risk management, financial accountability and long-term perspective.
"A Christian financial organization provides an opportunity for members to align one of the most important parts of their everyday lives with their values.
"Strategic Leadership: Experienced senor executive with a strong background in strategic planning, organizational development and translating strategy into measurable results.

"I am married to Joan for the past 41 years. I am the father of three children, all of who I am very proud and supportive. I am a member of Alberta Avenue Christian Reformed Church located on 118 Avenue, here in Edmonton. I am also extensively involved with World Renew. For work, I am a lawyer, practicing law in the greater Edmonton area for the past 28 years. I am currently practicing in south Edmonton with a very diverse law firm. I have been richly blessed to be able to serve God in this role."
"To me, being a faithful steward of the resources God has given us means that we look for ways not only to assist ourselves, but to assist our greater community. I believe that a healthy community is one where we help each other to use our financial resources to glorify God. We do this by setting an example for others and looking to others to be examples. When we have been blessed, we must recognize those blessings and respond as God calls us. Love our neighbours as ourselves."
"The role of the CCU as a Christian financial institution is to set an example of how we live out our faith in the financial world."
"I believe that my experience over the past 30 years as a lawyer and business person will help the CCU board to carry out its role in the greater Edmonton Christian community. I believe that I will be a strong voice of compassion and reason in carrying out our mission and vision through the next decade and beyond."

"I am blessed to be a lifelong Christian and am a member at West End Christian Reformed Church. I am married to my wife of 26 years and am the father of two boys.
"I think that the Christian Credit Union mission touches on our fundamental belief as Christians regarding the financial blessings we receive from God. By viewing our financial resources as being divine gifts, it calls us to be mindful in how we utilize them in furthering God's Kingdom. As Christians we are called to a higher standard than just accumulating and saving wealth. If what we have comes from God, we are called to use what we are given for His purposes."
"I think it is important to offer Christians an opportunity to bank at a Christian financial organization since it allows them to have the confidence that their goals and beliefs are in alignment with their bank. It also allows us to have a sense of community and helps promote faithful stewardship by aligning these goals. Having a bank that prioritizes Kingdom causes benefits this community as well. I witnessed this firsthand when the Edmonton Society for Christian Education worked closely with the Christian Credit Union for the financing of the cost of constructing its West School Campus. The two organizations working together to support Christian education was a concrete example of the importance of having a Christian financial institution that understood and prioritized the needs of the community."
"I think that my skills as a professional accountant will be beneficial to the Board as I can bring an ability to read and interpret financial statements and financial information. I have experience in my professional life in working with ta wide variety of businesses and not-for-profit organizations. I have also served on several Boards in the past, including Edmonton Society for Christian Education and other not-for-profit organizations. I also have been a member of the Christian Credit Union since I opened my first bank account when staff from the credit union visited my school when I was in elementary."
