Risk Coordinator Full-time/Permanent - Edmonton

We are seeking a Risk Coordinator to coordinate and administer activities that safeguard the credit union through loss prevention, fraud detection and AML/FINTRAC compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, maintains, and implements enterprise-wide risk policies and programs including AML compliance, privacy, loss prevention, and regulatory alignment.
  • Monitors transactions and accounts for suspicious or unusual activities. Analyzes patterns to identify and escalate anomalous or high-risk behaviors.
  • Develops and delivers compliance training programs to credit union staff, board of directors and agency volunteers, providing education and training on preventive measures and fostering an environment of accountability and continuous improvement in risk practices.
  • Acts as first point of contact in the event of a privacy breach; investigates and reports to the Privacy Officer for further direction; partners to resolve/address suspected fraud, forgery and theft incidents, ensuring timely resolution while balancing member and organizational accountability.
  • Analyzes fraud trends, reviews new member accounts/KYC forms and conducts other routine audits for regulatory compliance, possible fraud and money laundering risk. Proposes proactive measures to minimize future risk within a member-centric environment.
  • Maintains business continuity plans to protect organizational assets and operations. Recommends revisions and additions to ensure currency of all BCP information.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business banking experience.
  • 3 to 5 years financial services experience with preference given to strong working knowledge of Canadian anti-money laundering, FINTRAC and privacy legislation, regulations and requirements.
  • Demonstrates Christian character and our core values of humble, hungry and people smart with a desire to promote biblical financial stewardship.
  • Strong analytical, collaboration, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of banking practices, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.

A competitive salary range of $44,943.00 - $56,179.00 per annum commensurate with experience, along with benefits package, deposit and loan programs are all reasons to consider Christian Credit Union for your career.
