Mary Lynn Huizinga

"As an Estate Advisor with Advisors with Purpose, I help individuals and families develop estate plans that reflect their personal values and faith. My heart is to educate and empower clients to make well informed decisions with the resources God has entrusted to them. I am passionate about our mission at the Christian Credit Union: encouraging people to be faithful stewards of the financial resources God has given to them.

I also care deeply about family business as I am a bookkeeper for HWL Family Enterprises and part owner of Computronix, a software development company that provides regulatory software to government clients. My husband and I have been married for 36 years and are blessed with 7 children (plus 5 married additions) and 9 grandchildren. We attend and have volunteered at Saints Church (formerly WECA) for over 30 years. I enjoy hospitality and frequently host events for a houseful. If you can't find me in my office, I'm probably at Costco getting supplies for the next event."

"For me, being a faithful steward means acknowledging that the earth is the Lord's and everything in it. I recognize that everything I have comes from God, and I can honour Him by using my time, treasure and talents to further His work on the earth. The Bible verse "And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work" (2 Corinthians 9:8) is meaningful to me because it instructs on how I should live and how I should use the resources God has blessed me with."

"Working with organizations that support and align with your beliefs and values is critical in life and in business. Ensuring that you can receive counsel and advice that is biblically sound is extremely important I know that the Christian Credit Union aligns with my values; treating our membership as valuable people made in the image of God, working to promote biblical stewardship, and sharing the love of Christ by giving back to our community."

"For the past six years, I have been a board member at the Christian Credit Union, where I've learned a lot about how our organization works and what it needs to succeed. Working alongside other board members and our executive team, I've developed strong teamwork and decision-making skills while earning my Certificate in Directorship Excellence from the Credit Union Executives Society. I bring valuable experience to the board from many areas of my life, including family life, volunteering in my community, Christian leadership, bookkeeping, small business ownership, financial planning, and personal banking."

Thiago Braga

"I'm a passionate Christian, father of 4 kids, and a proud Brazilian-Canadian. My career is focused on Supply Chain through multiple industrial sectors and progressive roles. I also have experience in both non-profit and for-profit boards in Canada. From driving a forklift to leading a team of 1,300+ employees, I'm eager to learn and help others, adding value to the organizations I support.

I have been a board member at Christian Credit Union since 2023 and I truly believe in CCU's mission and the value it brings to our communities. Would be honoured to continue contributing to its growth and development, impacting more and more Albertans."

"I'm reminded of the Parable of Talents where God has entrusted each of us to be faithful stewards of His resources. That means time, gifts, skills, and also finances. Being a faithful steward means that all I have belongs to God and should be used according to His will. Spending less than I earn, investing wisely, multiplying, and being generous are important factors. The Christian Credit union works in the same way, leveraging Financial Services to serve, equip and bless its members, partners, and community. Both in my life and via the CCU, we're called to be light and salt in this world, and we can do that by wisely managing His financial resources entrusted to us."

"There is alignment of purpose and value between Christians and a Christian Financial Institution. Both are seeking to manage finances wisely according to God's principles and standards and it's reassuring to see that an organization such as CCU is deploying its resources, investments, loans, and donations to causes and entities aligned with my personal values. As a Christian, I would encourage my brothers and sisters to continue supporting the CCU in order to grow and thrive in an industry that needs more Christian influence. The more we support Christian organizations, the higher leverage and participation we have in our society."

"I have more than 20 years of experience in Supply Chain, working in multiple countries and helping organizations grow, transform, and adapt. Whether in small start-ups, multinational corporations, or in Public Sector, I bring a diverse background and skills that can help CCU. In addition to educational credentials including MBA, I also have board experience in different sectors (Credit Union, Retail, Energy, Professional Association) and support multiple board functions related to enterprise risk management, business growth, finance, audit, and overall governance improvement."

Pieter Van Ewijk

"With my extensive background in business (28 years) and accounting related positions (7+ years), as well as being a pastor for the past year-and-a-half, I would like to continue being a good steward of God's resources in my life, which currently includes the CCU."

"Nothing we have or own is really ours. We have a responsibility to manage those resources well and that includes looking after those who are less fortunate than we are and those who cannot (or will-not) look after themselves. We are all God's children, and we should all work towards a common good and God's common Kingdom."

"Especially in this ever-changing, ever becoming more anti-Christian, world, it is important for Christians to unite, to work together, and for the CCU to advocate for those businesses and churches and non-profit organizations who might otherwise have a more difficult time accessing credit, loans and financial services from organizations that do not understand their 'business models'."

"Having already been on the Board for nearly three years, I have the understanding and insight to provide governance and continuity. Having been an active part of both Audit & Finance and Governance committees, I have a good understanding of the Credit Union and the environment we operate in.

Having participated in 3 strategic planning sessions at the Credit Union, I believe I am a staunch supporter of the organization (representing and being part of- the Lethbridge Branch!) as well as having proven myself to be a dependable, even-keeled, known 'commodity'."
