Investment Assistant – Permanent/Full-time

At Christian Credit Union, our vision is to be the recognized leader in applying Christian values to financial services and we live our values in how we do business and how we treat our employees.  We are seeking an Investment Assistant to support the Financial Planning team by performing a variety of member service, administrative and analytical functions. This role is an integral member of the Financial Planning team, and completion of tasks in a timely, accurate and efficient manner is key to contributing to the delivery of member service excellence.

What are some key responsibilities?

  • Contacts members to book appointments or provide service follow-up.
  • Assists with the opening of member accounts, completes account maintenance, and prepares member information packages.
  • Processes all administrative activities and transactions, which may include opening, closing and changing accounts, related to registered and non-registered products, mutual fund transactions, basic estate processing activities and term deposits.
  • Responds to member inquiries on existing portfolio, providing investment information, renewing term deposits, or ensuring mutual fund trades are completed and settled on time.
  • Investigates and resolves inquiries related to accounts and escalates when appropriate.
  • Maintains files, records and documentation as required by regulatory authorities.
  • Assists in the distribution, maintenance, verification, completion and filing of financial planning records and reports.
  • Prepares a variety of internal and external correspondence, including preparing and distributing member communication packages.
  • Identifies opportunities for other lines of business and ensures an effective referral process for incoming and outgoing referrals.
  • Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of applicable credit union policies, products, services, and government legislation, particularly as it pertains to tax-deferred plans, estates, investments, mutual funds and account opening, closing and maintenance.

What skills and attributes does an Investment Assistant need to have?

  • Demonstrates exemplary Christian character including a desire to promote biblical financial stewardship.
  • Possesses Christian CU core values of humble, hungry and people smart.
  • Detail orientation with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and demonstrates strong computer literacy. Functional knowledge of Maximizer CRM, DataPhile, and industry specific programs considered an asset.
  • High School Diploma required with 1-3 years of experience in a financial institution or investment firm or equivalent combination of experience/education.
  • Experience with life insurance administration and/or current mutual fund license would be considered an asset.
